Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Special Statement

Warning Date: 4:16 PM CDT on October 29, 2014

WarningSum:...Freezing Temperatures Likely Over The Weekend...

Warning Message:A strong cold front is expected to move across the quad state
region Thursday night into Friday morning.
Behind this cold front, northwest winds will usher in much
colder and drier air into the region.
As winds slowly diminish and skies clear Friday night, a sharp
drop in temperatures is expected Friday night into Saturday
morning.
Temperatures are expected to drop to the freezing mark over parts
of southwest Illinois and southeast Missouri between 1 am and
3 am CDT Saturday, spreading southeast toward a line stretching
from Mount Carmel Illinois to the Land Between The Lakes in west
Kentucky through daybreak. Patchy frost will be possible over
parts of southern Illinois.
With highs expected to top out in the upper 40s during the day
Saturday, temperatures are expected to bottom out into the upper
20s by Sunday morning, temperatures should once again fall at or
below the freezing mark around 1 am CDT Sunday. A widespread frost
is also expected across the quad state region by Sunday morning.
Given the likelihood of these temperatures to damage any remaining
tender vegetation left outdoors...a freeze warning will likely be
required for all or part of the quad state region this weekend.
Now is a good time to make plans to bring in or protect any
sensitive plants from the cold this weekend.
Smith
